Our Shiny Side Studio is run by a certified tradesperson who works full time in the oil sands. Sessions are run during times when our facilitator is off shift, and are therefore quite varied. She has trained with three separate institutions over the last twenty years to gain qualifications to teach meditation and mindfulness.
Overcoming challenges in her own life through the practice of meditation inspired her on her journey to teach these skills to others. Recent research and ancient teachings surrounding meditation and mindfulness has lead to a great body of information about its benefits, both spiritual and otherwise.
Meditation and mindfulness are skills that get easier over time, much like how we train our bodies in the gym. it doesn't matter if you have no experience or if you think your mind is "too busy" to meditate. Attempting to nurture yourself by being still, and meeting yourself right where you are makes way for willingness and acceptance which can touch your life in many areas, particularly your mental health.
When you come to a session, feel free to bring your own yoga mat, pillow and/or blanket, or use what we provide in studio. Can't wait to see you there!!
